On 2/20 a couple of locals in Concrete, WA posted on FB about a cat in need of help. She appeared to possibly have been hit by a car and was not walking properly, spinning in circles, and her eyes were rolling back. When I arrived on the scene, some other cat lovers had joined. After getting her into a box, I drove to a vet in Sedro Woolley. Possible owners were on their way behind me. After figuring out it wasn't their baby (she was later found safe at home), I left and took this little cat to the Pet Emergency Center in Mt. Vernon.
What I thought would be a rush to get her medical care, turned into hours of waiting for approval to give her care. Since she was technically a stray, animal control needed to authorize any medical care before the vet office could legally help. It's been a very long day of trying to save this baby, get her medical care, and have her all settled in for the evening.
The Good: After waiting hours for the veterinarian to be able to assist with diagnosing this baby, it was determined through a physical exam, bloodwork, and x-rays that there was nothing physically wrong with her that they could tell. She has no obvious red flags on her blood work, she tested negative for FELV/FIV, and she has no broken bones on her x-rays.
The Bad: We still don't know what is actually "wrong" with her. She is lethargic, hasn't walked since I've had her, and hasn't ate or drank anything yet. She is being closely monitored at home and we may need to go for another vet visit if she doesn't make improvements. It is possible she may have been hit by something and has a concussion.
Any and all donations towards her care is greatly appreciated. No amount is too small. Her vet bill today came to $805.92. (I set the GoFundMe bigger in case she has more medical issues and for her supplies - food, litter, bed, etc.). I've since found out that the kitty is a female, and I'm calling her Mocha. She was already ear-tipped and spayed at some point, but was not microchipped and very likely is a stray.
About Me:
Up until the end of December, I was working in a federal contracting position that ended, rendering me unemployed. After a recent emergency vet visit with my own cat and sadly putting my senior dog to sleep a couple weeks ago, any and all donations are greatly appreciated. I did not want this little girl to suffer on someone's lawn.
Prior to coming here where I lived previously, all of my free time was spent volunteering saving death row dogs, fundraising for rescue dogs and cats, doing TNR, as well as fostering numerous mama cats and litters of kittens from the streets. I have a passion for helping where I can. Thank you for helping me to save Mocha and continuing any veterinary care she may need. I will continue to post updates on her journey.
