Ms.Rita, Family of 10
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Janette Mejia and I came across this family in urgent need of everything through my Facebook group "Victorville Community Helping Hands”,and I'm attempting to raise money to support this family of ten, who lost everything in a house fire in Birmingham, Alabama.
Ms. Rita, a 65-year-old mother and grandmother who has full custody of seven grandkids, who vary from the ages three to twelve, and her 26-year-old autistic son, who suffered 3rd degree burns in 50% of his body, along with her daughter of 43 years, have relocated to Victorville, CA and are currently staying in a Motel 6.
God brought this family into my life approximately a month ago. Since then, my community I have been attempting to assist them. Both Asbury United Methodist Church, and Birmingham Travelers Aid, both assisted with getting the family here by providing traveling assistance. No shelter in the High Desert is willing to accept or accommodate the family as a whole. They intend to place RJ, a 26-year-old man with autism, into a man's shelter all alone, but the ultimate goal is to keep the family together.
Thanks to the community in my Facebook group, we have been able to get the kids their school supplies and Christmas presents as well as Motel vouchers, food and clothing. As a community we are trying to continue supporting this family and would love to get extra support as we continue to grow.
The family has only 2 nights left in the hotel, please help with donations, resources and any funds to keep this family safe.
