To Have and to Hoard - Documentary

I am Andrew Novick - Boulder Public Library asked me to curate an exhibition of the collections of quirky Boulder character Joel Haertling for their Canyon Gallery from December 8, 2022, through February 5, 2023. With a resounding YES, I have been working on it for several months. I have also embarked on creating a short film and a subsequent feature documentary about Joel and the madcap process of curating the exhibition and following him to yard sales to watch him seeking out things for his collections and meeting several interesting people along the way. Joel is a very eclectic person who is an avant-garde filmmaker and musician, an archivist and collector, and the son of Charles Haertling, a renowned Boulder architect. Joel is meticulous about collecting and has hundreds of categories comprising thousands of objects. This is a passion project, and I do not have a large budget. There is a private donor, and I will also be investing a considerable amount of money to get this done well. I hate asking for funds but, as a community, I'm hoping many people will pitch in.
