Nic and Alexa Grivna

Alexa Grivna had the life of her dreams, her dream job as an ER nurse, a wonderful family and recently married the man of her dreams, Virginia police officer Nic Grivna. They had a storybook romance and a fairytale life until recently when Alexa was diagnosed with Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, which in layman’s terms causes her heart to beat at an abnormally high pace and leaves her dizzy and lightheaded after even the slightest exertion, it may also result in severe fainting spells that come on with little to no warning.

This rare condition that is only found in approx. 1.2% of the world’s population and is only treated by a handful of doctors in the entire United States has left Alexa unable to perform basic day to day activities and functions. It has left her unable to work and unable to leave her house without physical help. Even the smallest of activities can cause lightheadedness and fainting. The medication that Alexa needs, has to be special ordered, as she is the only person in her area that takes it. Along with it having to be special ordered, it is very expensive. The out of pocket that needs to be paid monthly is a little over $500.

With her in this condition her husband has taken on the role of sole financial provider, home maker, cook and chauffeur for their three beautiful children. With his job as a police officer in Virginia Nic has been working 12-16 hour days, and picking up any extra shifts that he is able to, to adequately provide for his family and his wife’s medical care. His days off are spent taking care of Alexa, their 3 children and doing the every day basic housekeeping needs.

Minnesota Chapter 48-6 of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is organizing a benefit with A Silent Auction, Spaghetti dinner on Saturday April 2, 2022 at 2:30 pm at the American Legion Post 71 in Duluth Mn. In hopes to help not only one of our own as a military veteran but a veteran police officer and his beautiful wife that has been struck with this medical affliction. The goal of the benefit will be to raise funds for Nic and Alexa to alleviate some stress in these hard times and provide some cushion so that Nic can take some time from work to be with his family.
