Hi My name is Mike Jerome. I started dating Denise 2 years ago in October. We found out 8 months ago that Denise was pregnant and that we were starting our little family. Denise had been looking forward to being a mother for many years before we even met. It was finally going to happen. Then a couple of weeks ago she got sick with what we thought was the flu. I took her to the hospital to get her checked out since she was 8 months pregnant. the Hospital said she had pneumonia and sent her home with antibiotics. They did a rapid Covid test that came back negative. We were told that if she didn't improve in 3 days to come back to the ER. After 3 days she had gotten worse so I took her back to he ER. This time she came back positive for Covid. she was rushed to the hospital she planned to give birth in and was given an emergency C section. Kara was born on 09/01/2021 at 36 weeks. just 4 lbs 8 oz. She was in the NICU for almost a week before they sent her home with me. I have stayed home to care for little Kara while Denise had to stay in the Hospital. Due to Covid she was not allowed visitors and was not even allowed to hold her newborn baby girl. She seemed to go back and forth. some days she would make progress and others she would worsen. A few days after being admitted she had to be placed on a ventilator and be sedated. over the next few days she would go back an forth again gaining some ground and then losing some. When the DRs feared she would not get well on her own they called her mother to come and see her. Unfortunately on 09/13/2021 her body would stop responding to treatment and she started to decline quickly. So much so that life support was removed and she passed away that day at 1:10 pm. She left behind her daughter Kara who is is now doing much better and being cared for me by her father. Caring for a newborn is a full-time job and I have not been able to work while I care for her. Anything donated will go towards caring for Kara including bills such as rent and utilities as well as basic necessities. Denise was loved by many people and brought love and joy to all she came across. It was her friends who prompted me to start this page so they could help and show some love back. Anything donated would help a great deal and is very much appreciated by me Kara and all her surrounding family and friends.
