Hello, my name is John, my brother, David Westbrook, was shot by an unknown assailant for an unknown reason in Birmingham, Alabama. David was a cherished part of his community and his family. He was a University of Alabama research scientist. He loved Star Wars, music, movies, his family, his friends, and his dog, Dankers. I would like to raise funds to hire a private investigator to do all they can to find any existing evidence that would help investigate David's killing. Security video recorders record until a certain point, and that point, on some recorders, is two weeks. Any possible evidence would be recorded over, and lost. David was murdered on May 23, 2022, one week ago, after playing Pokemon Go and playing with Dankers , his dog. The cost of a private investigator will be $85/ hour and costs for millage, which quickly exceeds anything I can safely afford and not putting my family in financial struggles. This is important because time is ticking and the Birmingham Police, while appreciated, are working on many crimes at the same time, getting new cases every day, and are on limited resources. Some people who may have information may not want to talk to the police, or may not want to get involved, no matter the crime. I'm wanting to do what I can in the limited time that we have to hire someone focused on one case itself, and not many at the same time.
