To help the Perkins’s family
Donation protected
Danny Perkins is my stepdad but that is not how I see him, he is my dad. He is not one to ask for help or admit defeat, he is always the one to lend a helping hand, most times more than he should have.
Around March the 25th, 2022, Danny was diagnosed with hepatitis C (which he had 40 years ago and beat); well, it came back and caused cirrhosis. Danny had been going to the endocrine doctor and had labs done routinely, but they were not testing for hepatitis C. He finally asked them to check because he was feeling tired and just not himself. The test returned positive for hepatitis C. The hepatologist did more lab work (blood test) on him, and the diagnosis was the same. So he started taking hepatitis medicine, which got rid of it, but his blood work came back also with cancer (HCC), so he went into surgery at UTSouthwestern Dallas; the surgeon was able to cauterize two of the tumors, but they are gone. Three weeks later, the tumors came back more significant, and more of them; then they tried chemo beads, and that didn’t work, so he is now doing a workup to go on the transplant list; he is missing a lot of work due to hospital stays and doctors appointments. The reason for the gofundme is to help with the medical bills.
When Suzanne (my mother, Danny's wife) was sick with her lung transplant, Danny was her main caregiver, there was not much Suzanne wanted or needed Danny didn't find a way to get or have for her, Suzanne calls him her rock. Danny has six grandkids, that need more time with their Pawpaw, more popsicles when mom says no, more hugs and more pawpaw stories.
Danny and his family are also looking for a living donor. If you know someone, please have them call UTSouthwestern @ [phone redacted] and ask for Sam Kidane, the liver transplant coordinator. Danny was also told on the 7th of December 2022 by his doctor that he only had around 18 months to live if he didn’t get this transplant. Please pray for Danny that he finds a match.
