To honor fallen soldier SSG Mclaughlin's children

On January 11, 2020, SSG Ian McLaughlin gave the ultimate sacrifice while proudly serving his country in Kandahar, Afghanistan. While performing route clearance, his vehicle was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) taking his life, the life of his driver, and wounding two other service members.
SSG Ian McLaughlin is a native of Newport News, VA joined the US Army in 2012 as a Combat Engineer. His first duty station was Fort Hood, TX where he met his beautiful wife Tarah. He later graduated from Airborne School in 2016 and was assigned to the 307th Brigade Engineer Battalion at Fort Bragg, NC. Between the years of 2016-2017, Ian and Tarah were blessed with two daughters named Madelyn and Ella. In 2018, he became a Jumpmaster for the 307th Engineer Battalion. In July of 2019, SSG McLaughlin canceled his orders to PCS to Fort Lewis, WA to go on his first deployment to Afghanistan because he wanted to proudly serve his country and lead his team. Between military school and training for deployment, he missed the birth of his legitimate son Ian Paul McLaughlin II and, was only able to spend eight days with him before leaving for deployment. He then served honorably in Afghanistan for seven months before his life came to an early tragic end.
The U.S Army not only lost a dedicated Leader, Jumpmaster, and Paratrooper but, his wife lost her best friend, his children lost their father, and their family lost their pillar. There was more to his life than just his military service, he committed his time and dedication to be the best father and husband he could be. He was an inspired family man who naturally took to becoming a better version of himself for his family's sake. His commitment to Tarah knew no bounds, from moments when she needed him to take the lead, he leads, if she needed him to wake up and take care of the children he was there. Being a father was everything to him and he exceeded all expectations.
Ian leaves behind his wife and three small children Madelyn (3), Ella (2), and baby Ian II (8 months). We are requesting donations that will help facilitate the life he was working towards to provide for his children and their future.
