To make Ricks new home his new adventure

Hi my name is Lori and I’m doing this to help our  mom out before we move our dad to a memory care unit next week. Rick was always the guy you could rely on for anything, you asked he was there, without fail. He is an adoring husband , father, grandpa and great grandpa. Unfortunately early onset Alzheimer’s forced him into an early retirement and it has progressed rapidly in the last few years. Some days he doesn’t know who we are but his smile and his laugh make up for all the things we are missing from this wonderful man . Our mom, Shar, has since been diagnosed with breast cancer and had a left breast mastectomy last week and is now home recovering while we wait for her next steps going forward. Our mom has been trying to care for our Dad these past few years but the time has come to place him in memory care. While this day will be heartbreaking, it will good for him and our mom so now she can switch back to being his wife rather then his care giver. I would love to get Rick all new bedding maybe some wall decor etc. something to make his new home feel like his own, like a brand new adventure. I have told him in a round about way he will be going on a new adventure, to a new job as a maintenance man in his own apartment and though his short term memory is not good he seems excited for this new adventure. Our mom will be living on a fixed income now so I would love to do this for him. Although our hearts are breaking we will always have our memories of Rick the electrician, Rick the handyman and jack of all trades, Rick the husband and dad who would do anything for his family. Rick the grandpa who adores all of his grandchildren and who stepped in for my kids when they needed him the most. Rick the great grandpa who is pretty darn Great.
