To raise money in memory of Charley bates

Donation protected
Hi my name is Jacob Savage and I am running the bath half marathon in memory of Charley Bates. On Sunday the 31st of July Charley sadly lost his life in a terrible incident costing him his life. I have known Charley and his big sister Leah since they joined primary school. Charley was a couple years younger than me but ever since that day we met I would always see and speak to Charley at school, we grew quite close and he would come round so I could help fix his bike or build a scooter or even just go out together having fun. I always saw Charley as my little brother in a way that I could help and guide or even just be up to mischief with. Even when I left primary school I would still catch up with him when I could, I would see him when his mum Helen would pick me up from secondary school to give me a lift home and Charley would be climbing over the car like it was a play ground. He was a funny kid and would help anyone, he was always interested in what I was up to and what I was doing next, he saw the best in people and was a kind and genuine person who put others before himself. I didn’t see him much in the last couple years of his life unfortunately but I would’ve done anything to help him, he was growing up to be a kind, caring and generous young man that his whole family and friends were so proud of. He was only 16 when his life got cut short and had the whole world ahead of him. Therefore I am doing this for you Charley to do something for you in your memory. I will always think about you little Charley and look after your family Helen and Leah. We are all so proud of you for everything you achieved in your life and we will continue to think about you and the amazing person you always we will be.

I am raising money for Dorset air ambulance as they were in attendance on the tragic day that Charley lost his life due to knife crime. I am also raising money for a charity called Bristol knife bin and bleed kit campaign this charity is working hard to make sure our surrounding towns have the equipment that is needed to save a life if something like this ever happens again, which we all hope wouldn’t happen.

I hope people will be willing to show some support in memory of Charley and remember the wonderful young man he was rather than the tragedy that happened last year. Thank you
