Help with Brandy and baby Aaron
Donation protected
Hi friends, my name is Brandy Berry and I am asking for help during this time. On January 26, 2023 my infant son, Aaron and I were involved in a freak house accident. As my baby, Aaron woke up and put his feet on the floor next to me, I closed my eyes for a second to prepare myself for the day. Never did I anticipate what was about to happen next. Simultaneously, I heard a noise almost like a bomb or crash sound and felt the house shake at the same time. Before I could even react, I felt heavy materials crashing down onto my face and body. I immediately tried to get up and looked at Aaron who was in the corner of the room screaming covered in dust and small particles. I couldn’t help, but think we were having another earthquake as we did the day before. This time thinking it was way bigger and way worse. I grabbed Aaron, ran out of my room frantically, and went to check on my roommates. I imagined the entire house was crumbling. Thank the Lord, they were OK. I ran downstairs with baby Aaron to see what was happening and I saw neighbors outside and a huge tree that over took the road, yard and house. Still not knowing what exactly was happen or how this tree fell. I was still frantic and finally felt my head swell up. I asked neighbors to please call 911. Making sure my son and myself were not too hurt, I began to understand that we were not having another earthquake but were indeed victims of a freak accident due to all the rains, earthquake, then wind storm that was occurring. I have survived many different things in life, but in this moment being afraid for Aaron’s life and mine, and not knowing what was happening or the why was the scariest feeling in the world. The tree managed to damage the room and most all of our belongings, leaving us with no safe place for my infant to live. Almost everything is ruined. I am asking for help while we can figure out our next step as we go through this very traumatic experience. Not only to heal from the displacement of our home and helping us mentally and emotionally. The thought of us losing our lives over this, thinking we could have died had that tree gone a few more feet over the house or if baby Aaron was still laying there next to me in the spot that the beam landed. That is an unreal feeling and very traumatic at this time. We are grateful to be alive with minimal injuries and grateful that no one has law was a physical hurt. We are thanking God we are all Ok. Paramedics have checked us out and said we are ok. We went the hospital and both had CT’s and are fine according to ER Doctors.
At this time, I am working with the American Red Cross and my immediate family to help me with a couple of days of hotel since we are homeless now. The American Red Cross has not gotten quite back to me as they have to do a walk through of the house before assessing what it is they will help with. I am told it will probably be a couple of days of hotel. We are being told by the folks doing the inspection that this could take up to 6 months to repair. Please help with what your heart tells you. Any amount truly helps us. I am thankful and appreciative to anyone that can help.
Please note this is the only Go Fund me for me and my baby.
