Remember and celebrate the life of Shaun Thornton

Hi,
it’s Amy and Jai here who are the neighbouring business to David and Shaun at The Propagation Station. On Monday our beautiful Shaun tragically lost his life all too soon leaving behind his husband David, his business which was his life, his family, his two dogs and a devastated community.
Shaun was a light to so many in our community. I loved the way he always knew more about anyone than they ever told him, because he paid attention to every detail. I loved the way he would whimsically welcome everyone with the purpose of lifting their day. I loved the way he showed he cared, he always went above and beyond. And I loved what he did within our community, helping so many locals with their plant questions, helping other local businesses by sharing space within their own, promoting local people and small passion projects and always, always putting others before himself.
Shaun is going to be so missed and we want to raise money to give him the goodbye he deserves and to help alleviate the financial burden left on David throughout this period.
As new business owners we have quickly learnt that you’re not in it for the money, which luckily we never were, you’re in it for the love of what you do as those bills and outgoings never end! David is going to need to take some time to wade through the storm that is losing a partner, the financial burden of a funeral and all the costs that involves and is going to need help to make ends meet in this period of no income as he steps back briefly from the shop that Shaun and David created together. The funds raised will go directly to covering the costs of the service and to cover the bills for David in this time he steps back.
And as if life wasn’t hard enough right now for our friend and neighbour David, he received the news yesterday afternoon after his mum arrived to support him through this in the morning that his sister is touch and go in hospital and his mum has been asked to return home to New Zealand to be with her.
EDIT:David’s sister is stable in hospital and his mum will be here to support until the funeral passes then return home to support her daughter.
A funeral and service will be planned for Shaun over the coming days and we would love as many of you to come and say goodbye as possible so we will confirm a date when one is set. We know how widely he impacted this community from Taree to Kempsey and beyond.
EDIT:Shaun’s funeral is Wednesday the 5th of June at Simplicity Funerals, 16 Lake road, Laurieton. Live stream link available via The Propagation Station Facebook page.
Thank you Shaun for always looking after everybody, you will be remembered. Rest in peace
