"To Roost" Short Film about Love, Pain & Healing

Hello! I am Lauren and I am producing and acting in a short film. We plan to shoot at the end of July (July 29-30) and are raising money to pay and feed our cast and crew. We are saving $ by shooting in a free location.

This is a story about a very bad day for a woman grieving her recently dead mother, hooked on her mom's opiates, with a partner who loves her, who is about to walk out. He realizes that even he can't help this woman, and it is she who must make a choice to stay in her personal hell, or take a risk to change and choose love - for herself, for her mother's memory, for her partner, and for the world.

Whether you or someone you are close to has suffered from chemical addiction, or any other sort of negative/unsustainable relationship with behavior, social media (!), feelings of depression, anxiety, isolation, you can relate to the struggle of our main character.

The world seems to be crazy and getting crazier every day: from environmental catastrophe, and AI potentially putting writers and background actors out of work, to the ongoing WGA and new SAG strikes affecting thousands of jobs and livelihoods, with the lack of good things to watch next year really the very least of our concerns.

As an actor and filmmaker, I asked, why not take this time to make a project?

Together with Kimball Studio friend and creative collaborator and fellow actor Michael Tyler, we are going to just do it.
