It is with deep sadness that we write that our dearly beloved Delonte and Shalaya Tobe departed this life to rest in the arms of our eternal Father on the afternoon of Sunday September 6th. Loved by so many, Delonte and Shalaya were a son/daughter, a mother/father, a brother/sister, an aunt/uncle, a cousin, and a friend to many. Both Delonte and Shalaya were a lot alike and are known for being funny, sweet, caring, comforting, dependable, and loyal. While in their presence, one couldn’t help but sense their love for one another. They were joined at the hip like twins….where you saw one, you always saw the other. Though our hearts are hurting, we find solace in the fact that they both departed to eternity together.

Delonte and Shalaya’s absence from this side of glory is heartfelt and they will surely be missed by so many. They leave behind three beautiful children Delonte Tobe (10 years old) Jr., Aliyah Miller (9 years old), and Elijah Tobe (2 years old). They also leave behind their mother Denise Butler (Delonte’s Mother), Virginia Moore (Shalaya’s Mother), John Tobe (Delonte’s Father), siblings Shelly Moore, Shana Moore, Ronald Whaley, Tiera Butler, Crystal Brannon, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

As a family and community, we are hit so hard with this sudden tragedy. Family and friends are coming together to make sure that Delonte and Shalaya’s children receive every ounce of love and support that they need in their time of suffering. As we try to pick of the pieces of our shattered hearts, we are left to face the reality that their children still need to be provided for in every aspect of their lives. So we’ve established this account to ensure they’re given every opportunity that Delonte and Shalaya would’ve given them had they still been alive.

The family appreciates your words of encouragement, your donations, your visits, your texts, and calls during this difficult time. We ask that you continue to keep us lifted in prayer as only The Lord God Almighty is able to heal our broken hearts. The family is setting up a candle light vigil for Friday September 11th in honor of Delonte and Shalaya's memory. Location details will be provided.
