Todd and Kristy Strecker

Hi, my name is Brenda Schumacher and I am Todd and Kristy’s sister-in-law.

For six weeks Todd has been living in the hospital, receiving treatments and care for multiple serious health issues.

Kristy has been driving daily from Zimmerman to the East Bank Hospital at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis. Sometimes, she’s accompanied by the kids, and sometimes she heads there alone but each day, she sits by Todd’s side, listening to the doctors and care team explain the ins and outs of his treatment.

The short-term goal, as of early February, is for him to make enough improvement to get out of the ICU and into a different unit of the hospital. On the horizon, they’re hoping, as he recovers, that he’ll ultimately be eligible for a liver transplant to treat his non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, which is complicating his other health issues.
