Unexpected passing of Peter Todd

Donation protected
This go fund me page was created to help pay for funeral expenses for our beloved father, father in law, grandfather, Peter Todd's tragic and unexpected passing.

On Thursday 20th April, we received a phone call with news from my father in law, my husband's father notifying us that he could have Acute Myeloid Leukemia which is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow.

He had to be transported from Mount Gambier Hospital to Adelaide Hospital the following day to do further test to confirm his diagnosis and possibly start treatment. Doctors scheduled for him to do a bone marrow test on Monday 24th April which happened to be on his 72nd birthday. On the day he was told his immune system was too weak and they were unable to perform a bone marrow test.
He was told that same night his cancer was very aggressive and has spread through his body that they were unable to give him any treatment or chemo and there was nothing they could do. Doctors told him he could have a year to live but more likely months to live.

2 days later on a Wednesday, we all got a call from Peter informing us his docs told him his cancer is spreading too quickly and he has 1 week to live now.

My husband arranged and left that same day to drive down to Adelaide and I was going to fly down with the kids and meet him on Friday or Sat depending on when I was able to take leave from work.
That same evening at around 5.30pm, we all got a call with news that he might not live through the night or latest by the morning.

My husband had to turn around and return home. By the time he returned home it was around 8pm and there was no flight flying out for the night. Hubby and his brother were only able to fly down on the first flight in the morning. We prayed and prayed that his father would hold on till the morning.

Hubby and his brother flew down the next morning and was so glad his dad held on and was able to see him. I flew down with the kids later that afternoon and the kids was also able to see and say goodbye to their poppy.

Peter held on and was very happy he spend his last days, hours with his family, childrens and grandkids. Peter passed away the next day Friday 28th April 2017 (one week after being diagnosed).

As the family is coming to terms of their father's sudden death, we found out today from his funeral insurance (Real Insurance) that he is not covered. Death caused by illness is only covered after 12 months from when cover started and he only started his insurance 7-8 months ago.

So I have set up this page hoping we are able to help cover for the funeral expenses for my hubby and his family. This was the last thing they needed to worry about.
