Todd Lanoue & Family Medical Expenses

During the early morning hours on Saturday, November 7th, Todd was involved in an accident on his hunting land. He was staying at his hunting shack with some friends, like he typically would deer opener weekend. The shack sits right next to a steep embankment where everyone parks. Bystanders believe he was going to retrieve something from his truck when the truck began to roll down the embankment. No one witnessed the actual incident, but the sound of the truck hitting the trees alarmed everyone, and Todd was found stomach down, responsive, but unable to get up. He was taken to Glacial Ridge Health System in Glenwood, where he was then airlifted to HCMC in the cities due to the extent of his injuries.
After he arrived, they did an assessment and found the following injuries:
-Fractures in his thoracic and cervical vertebrae
-Facial and nasal bone fractures
-Extensive rib fractures (most, if not all of them)
-Internal bleeding within the chest
-Both of his lungs collapsed
Currently, he is heavily sedated to manage pain, has chest tubes for his collapsed lungs, a breathing tube and ventilator, as well as a feeding tube. He has been responsive and communicating via thumbs up/down and slight nods—he is also able to move his fingers and toes.
The road to recovery for Todd will be more of a marathon than a sprint. It will require a long period of time in the hospital to heal, and then extensive rehab and therapy to regain function, range of motion and muscle. This account was set up as a place where you can help with any expenses the Lanoue family may incur over the next weeks and months as Todd travels this road.
Things could be better, but they also could be worse. We are doing our best to think positive, and we keep reminding ourselves that Todd is one of the strongest men we know.
If you are uncomfortable giving through this "GoFundMe" account, we have also set up a savings account at Eagle Bank, 2 Franklin St S, Glenwood, MN 56334. Please make checks payable to Todd Lanoue Medical Fund. For more information, you can contact Janelle Negen (Todd's niece).
