Together for a Brighter Future for Sarah and her boys!

Over 20 years ago now. If you lived in the Moose Lake area at that time or had ties to our community, you probably remember the horrendous car accident that occurred on Hwy 61 near Gampers that affected so many people. There were young people involved from Moose Lake, Cromwell, and Barnum. Jessica Hayes and Matthew Bradford were both killed that awful day, and Sarah Huntington was critically injured and air lifted from the site.

Life has not been easy for Sarah since that day. She suffered a traumatic brain injury and continues to struggle with lifelong negative medical issues. Sarah struggles with severe migraines, body ailments, difficulty with word recall, confusion, and dizziness. There is also the devastation of losing her best friend and ongoing depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress.

Sarah is disabled yet heroically cares for her twin boys as a single mom. For many years, they lived solely on such minimal money that paying for basic necessities was a daily stressor. They currently have a trailer home that is dilapidated and outright unsafe. There are leaks, critters continuously get in, the electrical unit is outdated and actually banned now, and the heating mechanism is insufficient.

A group of Sarah supporters, and those of us that want to honor the memory of Jessica and Matthew, have come together to provide Sarah with a safe, efficient trailer home. We have secured the trailer and MANY wonderful volunteers and good people have come together to make this physically happen. A company is willing to move the new trailer to site, others have offered to clear the site of debris and clear the slab, another crew has offered to hook all of the utilities up once the new home is safely onsite. We’ve been able to access some housing/county funds but they are so limited. We need Sarah to be safe with her boys in a good home as the winter months settle in.
