To raise much needed funds for the charity ALONE; Conor, Dermot, Alister & Josh will jump on their bikes on April 29th to each climb the elevation of Mount Everest, 8,848 meters, cycling for around 13hrs in aid of the charity ALONE.
We have been lucky to be able to spend time in isolation with our families or friends. However, social distancing has left some more isolated than ever. A lot of Ireland's elderly population are unable to go outside, meet up with friends and it is increasingly difficult for charities to support them at this time.
And so, in an effort to raise much needed funds for those not lucky enough to spend time with their loved ones, four of us will jump on our bikes on Wednesday 29th April and we will each climb the elevation of Mount Everest 8,848 meters (for a total of 35,392 meters of climbing between us) in aid of the charity ALONE.
ALONE carry out fantastic work for Ireland's elderly population. The elderly population is at the highest risk of COVID-19, couple this with the restrictions they must follow it is more important than ever to provide our support for them. With money being distributed towards PPE and hospitals it can be difficult for charities to continue their work during this time.
We will do the cycle in the virtual world of Zwift, where we will climb the "Alpe Du Zwift", based on the Tour De France climb up Alp D'Huez. The climb is around 1,100m so we will repeat this throughout the day to accumulate the elevation of Everest and estimate that it will take us in the region of (hopefully) 13 hours!
The Ireland contingency will start @ 6am Wednesday 29th April, while our Hong Kong guys will start @ 4am Thursday 30th April. We will be doing the cycle alone, but together through Zoom and would love if anyone would like to join us on Zoom or Zwift on the day. Feel free to cycle part of the climb with us on Zwift or just drop in on Zoom for a chat.
Together, let's help ALONE.
