Together for - Juntos por Cynthia Chinchilla

My cousin, Cynthia Chinchilla, was recently diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritonei, a very rare abdominal cancer. It is so uncommon that unfortunately there is no treatment in her home country of Costa Rica. Her best option is to seek treatment in another country, and for this we need your help. Please read her story in her own words below.

Mi nombre es Cynthia, tengo 37 años y vivo en Costa Rica, quiero contarles mi situación actual.

En el mes de junio del 2020 , me hice unos exámenes médicos por que sentía molestias en mi abdomen, y el resultado de esos examines fueron un tumor en el área peritoneal (cavidad abdominal), es una RARA ENFERMEDAD llamada PSEUDOMIXOMA PERITONEAL en la que hay la presencia de mucina (un tipo de moco),la causa mas común es el cáncer de apéndice u ovárico. Esta catalogada como una rara enfermedad, no hay muchos estudios sobre  ella ,ya que no es muy común.

En mi país lamentablemente no hay tratamiento curativo, no temenos especialistas ni equipo para la operación que necesito, tampoco funciona la quimioterapia tradicional intravenosa, lo que me ofrecen es tratamiento paliativo u observación del crecimiento del tumor, y la opción es operarme en caso de que ya el tumor haya comprometido el espacio de la cavidad abdominal con obstrucción generando múltiples intervenciones ya que el tumor vuelve a aparecer con el tiempo y mi abdomen no soportaría mas operaciones de este tipo.

He investigado y en otros países como  España, Brasil, EEUU y Colombia tienen el tratamiento que yo necesito , este tratamiento se llama HIPEC (Quimioterapia Hipertérmica Intraperitoneal a 42°-43°) combinado con la citorreducción quirúrgica (extracción de la máxima cantidad del tumor posible por medio de cirugía).

La operación tiene un costo elevado que yo sola no podría pagar, ya me he contactado con médicos de Brasil y vieron mi caso y mis exámenes y me dieron esperanza y fe de saber que aun tengo la oportunidad de operarme y seguir disfrutando de la vida, de mi familia, de mis amigos, de mis perritos y disfrutar de mi pasión , el ciclismo, y de muchas otras cosas.

Quisiera solicitar su ayuda en este caso de la forma que sea posible para ustedes, donaciones, compartiendo mi información y hacerla viral,  palabras de fe y esperanza todo lo que estén dispuesto a dar que me ayuden en este proceso, no quiero quedarme de brazos cruzados esperando que la enfermedad me gane, quiero ser yo la que le gane a esta enfermedad y para eso necesito de todos ustedes que están leyendo esto, soy sincera me da miedo lo que venga mas adelante si no me trato a tiempo y mi sistema colapse y no haya nada que hacer.

My name is Cynthia, I am 37 years old and I live in Costa Rica, I want to tell you about my current situation.

In June 2020, I had some medical tests done because I felt discomfort in my abdomen, and the result of those tests was a tumor in the peritoneal area (abdominal cavity), it is a RARE DISEASE in which there is the presence of mucin (a type of mucus), the most common cause is appendix or ovarian cancer. It is classified as a rare disease, there are not many studies on it, since it is not very common.

Unfortunately, in my country there is no curative treatment, we do not have specialists or equipment for the operation I need, nor does traditional intravenous chemotherapy work, what they offer me is palliative treatment or observation of tumor growth, and the option is to operate in case of The tumor has already compromised the abdominal cavity space with obstruction, generating multiple interventions since the tumor reappears over time and my abdomen would not support more operations of this type.

I have investigated and in other countries such as Spain, Brazil, USA and Colombia they have the treatment that I need, this treatment is called HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy at 42 ° -43 °) combined with surgical debulking (extraction of the maximum amount of the tumor possible through surgery).

The operation has a high cost that I could not pay by myself, I have already contacted doctors in Brazil and they saw my case and my examinations and they gave me hope and faith to know that I still have the opportunity to operate and continue enjoying life, of my family, my friends, my dogs and enjoy my passion, cycling, and many other things.

I would like to request your help in this case in any way possible for you, donations, sharing my information and making it viral, words of faith and hope, everything you are willing to give to help me in this process, I do not want to stand idly by hoping that the disease will win me, I want to be the one who will beat this disease and for that I need all of you who are reading this, I am honest I am afraid of what comes later if I do not treat myself on time and my system collapses and there is nothing to do.
