Together for Townes: Overcoming Cancer

Hi, we’re Mel and B and we’re raising funds to support our best friends in their journey through cancer.

Last week, in the lead up to Christmas and what's supposed to be a joyous time of year for families, our best friends got the news no parent wants to hear — their son, Townes, was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma, a cancer of the liver.

After going into the emergency room complaining of an assortment of symptoms that Ains and Jake had brought to various GPs and ERs over the past two months, they were finally given the answer and swiftly moved to the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane to obtain more tests and treatment.

Ains and Jake have been nothing short of incredible parents since little T was born. Their love, kindness and devotion has resulted in the sweetest little boy that wouldn't hurt a fly. Quite literally — he loves to save bugs from inside, he is shy but cheeky, and loves nothing more than a big cuddle with Mum.

They're currently waiting for more tests and procedures before the chemotherapy treatment begins and, despite obviously being heartbroken beyond words, are seeing any light they can and have been a source of strength for their little boy.

As we all know, when life hands you difficult cards there are certain things that don't stop — regular bills, mortgage payments, accomodation while away from home, additional expenses Townes needs, etc. We would love nothing more than to be able to support them through this emotionally, physically and financially so they can focus on the only thing that matters — being Together for Townes and supporting them through his treatment over the next 6-9 months.

We're starting this fundraiser to go directly towards their immediate expenses while they are away from home, regularly receiving treatment in Brisbane, and are unable to work while they are 24/7 carers for Townes.
