Our hearts and prayers are with the communities of Maui and everyone affected by the devastating wildfire on the island.

It feels Maui is in so many of our hearts, many have a personal story, a deep connection, a honeymoon, a staycation or maybe the dream to one day visiting this magical Island Maui. It truely is magical. The island, the people, the community.

My personal connection in a quick recap, which many of you already know.

Maui was my home not too long ago, until I moved back to Oahu. Maui was my dream to live, Maui gave me many opportunities, Maui gave me peace and the hope when needed most, it was during the pandemic. The ‘āina (Hawaiian word for “land”), means that which feed. It encompasses the Hawaiian worldview of a reciprocal and familiar relationship between people and land. Connection to ‘āina is essential to the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of Native Hawaiians.

‘Āina serves as a foundation of everything in Hawai‘i. Much of the ‘āina is now distroyed, people lost their lives, many lost their homes, many don’t even know where to go or have nothing to wear and eat. The place that was their home is taken, the familiar.

Aloha ‘Āina - Love of the Land.

Lets help rebuilding and supporting with Love for the Land and their community by giving support, hope and light in these heavy times.

In respond to the devastating wildfire across the island, the Hawai‘i Community Foundation is activating the Maui Strong Fund to provide flexible, quickly deployed resources to support Maui residents.
