Together we can help the Convery Family

Hi, my name is Nicole. I am a friend of the Convery's. Most of you know Pat, the owner of Pat's Service Station in Swedesboro, NJ. I know everyone in town is wondering why the gas station and business are closed and worried if Pat is okay. They have permitted me to share their story and help them through this challenging time. Please know all funds will be deposited into the Convery's account attached to this fundraiser.

Please see below a letter from their family regarding Pat and his health.

Pat was the guy that you would call for help. For over 40 years, those who needed a helping hand. It could have been for car repairs, vehicles broke down or coming to fill up your gas tank and have a friendly chat. Sadly, Pat can no longer heed those calls, and we find ourselves in the position of asking for your help on their behalf of him.

Pat has always been there for our family. He has worked tirelessly to support his family. On 9/17/22, his life and all of ours changed. Pat called and said he couldn’t remember how to write a check. We took him to the closest hospital in Mullica Hill. In the next few days, he was transferred to a university hospital that could better meet his higher care needs. Here, we learned that he had a blocked carotid artery and had, at some point, suffered a ministroke. He was awake, talking and all body functions waiting to have his procedure scheduled.

Pat had another surgery on 9/22/22 and then an emergency surgery the following day, and he never opened his eyes. The initial procedure was to clean out the artery, but then he had more strokes, brain swelling, fluid in the brain and seizures. We continue to have hope as his body has had many complications. He had another procedure: a trach to breathe and a feeding tube to eat. We still are waiting for him to wake up. He has a long road ahead of him, and we remain hopeful.

His health prognosis went from cleaning out his artery, and he’ll be fine, to the doctors having no idea and wanting us to consider pulling the plug. His financial prognosis went from insurance would cover most of everything to insurance will cover nothing at all. This means the imminent transfer from the hospital to a longer-term facility will be all out-of-pocket expenses.

We decided to set up this GoFundMe at the suggestion of family and friends. The funds will be for this medical care, present and future, along with other expenses.

Pat is a wonderful person who has always helped others. Now Pat needs help. We ask for your help to maintain his life long enough to give his brain some time to heal. If you think, as we do, that Pat deserves that chance, we are asking that you please join and donate to help us allow him to survive. We know there may come a time when a difficult decision may have to be made, but we cannot do it now with so many “what ifs” still on the table. Any amount is greatly appreciated, along with prayers and positive energy.
