Tom and Tara Bond Fundraiser

Not long after getting married and starting a new life with her husband Tom, Tara was diagnosed with heart failure and received a heart transplant 1998. Tom stuck by her side the whole way and took care of her as she recovered. Tom and Tara settled into life together after the transplant and adopted their son Tommy from Cambodia. They moved to New Mexico for work and happily raised their son, made friends, and joined a church community.
In 2015 Tara’s health took a downward turn and after many hospital visits they made the decision to move to Mendham, NJ where Tara grew up so that they could access high quality medical care. Once in New Jersey, Tom took a job working nights so that he could take Tara to her many appointments and hospitalizations, as well as have time with his son.
Unfortunately the years of transplant medication has damaged Tara’s kidneys and she is currently on dialysis three times a week. She needs another heart transplant as well as a kidney transplant but has not been approved since her health is fragile.
Tragically, in March, Tom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. His biggest concern has always been taking care of his family, and suddenly he is the one needing care. Tom has always been the rock of the family. He is a wonderful husband and father who always has a positive outlook and a smile. His unconditional love has seen the family through years of challenges.
Tom is now in the palliative care unit at Morristown Medical Center. Tara is faced with medical bills and the need for rides to dialysis and the hospital to visit Tom. The most important thing for Tara and Tom is to be able to support their high school age son who has been through such an upheaval at a young age. Please consider donating and letting others know about this fund.
