Tom Duregger's Cancer Fight!

This campaign is to help us navigate my 67-year-old father's journey as he begins his fight against Stage IV melanoma which has metastasized to his brain, lungs, and adrenal glands.

We hope this campaign can help with transportation, prescriptions, and living expenses, as Tom has had to stop working to focus on his treatment. Without Tom's income, there is a gap we are trying to fill before long-term disability can be activated in the next four months.

Bio: Tom Duregger, has been a Petroleum & Renewable Fuels Transportation Specialist for Wess, Inc since 2018, delivering gas, diesel and renewable fuels across Iowa and Southern Minnesota. With this diagnosis, he will take a break from working in an industry in which he has logged 4 million personal miles trucking since 1973. Tom is passionate about local politics and has been an active member of the Hancock County Republican Party, supporting many national and local campaigns since 2012.

Prognosis: Tom will immediately start radiation therapy to help shrink tumors and reduce the multiple hemorrhages in his brain. The radiation therapy will be closely followed by immunotherapy/chemotherapy to target the melanoma tumors in his lungs and adrenal glands.

Candidly, we are facing a tough road ahead as the treatment will be administered out of Mayo Clinic in Albert Lea (45 minutes North of Garner) and Rochester (2 hours North of Garner). This treatment plan is focused on quality of life (palliative) care.

We are very thankful for the help given to my parents on their farm in North Iowa. We are encouraged by the generosity of neighbors and friends who have already volunteered time to perform building repairs and clear snow during the winter season.
