Tom Pedals for a Purpose:
The across the country Trans America Bicycle Trail is an epic adventure and one that I look forward to accomplishing with my brother, Steve. We will be adventuring across this great country, the United States of America, on our road bicycles loaded with gear to support our trip. Our goal is to complete 80 miles a day from Astoria, Oregon (Pacific Ocean) on the west coast till we reach Yorktown, Virginia (Atlantic Ocean) on the east coast. This is a bucket list item for both of us that we have planned for well over two years and now it is time!

I am looking forward to many things during this adventure…time with my brother, the solitude of being in a zone to reach our goal, seeing the beautiful sites within our country’s borders, meeting interesting people along the way, and being reunited with my family in Alaska after we are successfully finished. We are hoping for lots of sunshine and a nice steady tail wind to help assist us along the way.

Every adventure needs a goal “bigger than oneself” and my adventure is no different. My goal is to raise money for a very near and dear cause of mine, feeding hungry people. Through the help and efforts of the Fairbanks Community Food Bank, who has set up a specific Go Fund Me account to accept the funds that will help to reach my goal of $43,000 ($10.00 per mile). This goal will enable the Fairbanks Community Food Bank to provide over 25,748 meals for people in need within the communities of Alaska. You should know that 95% of every dollar donated to the Fairbanks Community Food Bank goes directly to providing food…this is an unbelievable and incredible percentage rate for any non-profit organization to attain…one of the reasons I love their work so much!

I would appreciate any support you may afford and certainly your prayers for safety and strength for my brother and I as we pedal for a purpose!

Thank you and God Bless…Tom

The Fairbanks Community Food Bank collects local surplus food and distributes it to people in need in Interior Alaska. We were founded in 1982.
