Tom's Fight Against Kidney Cancer
Donation protected
On Tuesday, May 19, my son Tom went in for a doctor’s appointment. He was showing signs of a urinary tract infection and we were certain that was the diagnosis he would leave with that day. His doctor ordered blood work and a urine sample. While pending those results his doctor felt uneasy with Tom’s symptoms and sent him immediately over to Oswego Hospital for a sonogram. The sonogram came back abnormal and Tom was referred to a specialist on Wednesday May 20th for an MRI. The MRI showed a large 4x4 tumor growing in Tom’s right kidney. Thursday, May 21, Tom was officially diagnosed with kidney cancer.
Tom’s team of doctors have been working hard and vigilantly. On June 16th Tom will be going to Crouse Hospital where he will have his entire right kidney removed.
Tom is the financial provider for his family, taking care of his wife and two beautiful boys. During this time, Tom will be out of work. He will be in the hospital recovering for about a week, pending how well his body copes with the surgery and reacts to one kidney. Unfortunately, Tom will have to be alone in the hospital during all of this as well due to Covid-19 restrictions, so any positive thoughts and texts to him would be a wonderful boost (the more inappropriate the content is, the better). There will also be an extended recovery time at home after the surgery. This financial strain will be felt, as I am sure many other people are feeling now during these uncertain times. If it is at all possible, a donation of any size would be so helpful, and our family would be forever grateful.
We would like to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation for all of the love and support we have received from our closest friends and family during this difficult time. We know we will get through this, together!
