Tomlinscote 3 Peaks Challenge

Donation protected
On the weekend of the 29th of June 2019, a team of teachers and Sixth Form students from Tomlinscote School will be taking on the National 3 Peaks Challenge.

For those who don't know what the 'National 3 Peaks Challenge' is, it involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon, the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales respectively, all in under 24 hours. The 480 mile drive between the 3 peaks is also included within the 24 hours, meaning at least one of the mountains will be climbed in the dark! The challenge requires immense self-motivation and months of training, all of which the team will have to do on top of studying for A-levels or working full-time.

The event is being organised by one of the students, Alex, in order to raise money for 2 charities. The charities we are raising money for are:

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice - Phyllis Tuckwell is a charity that cares for terminally ill people and their families in West Surrey and North East Hampshire. A few students on the team have had family members cared for by Phyllis Tuckwell during the last stages of their lives, so the organisation is very close to our hearts. Phyllis Tuckwell go above and beyond to make loved ones comfortable and happy, and as a small, local charity which receives very little government funding we would like to show them our gratitude and support, not only for how they have helped the families of members of the team, but also for how they have helped the families of many other students at Tomlinscote and in the local community.

Mountain Rescue England and Wales - Made up entirely of volunteers, Mountain Rescue is a charity which works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to rescue those in danger both on and off the hills of England and Wales. They save countless lives every year, both human and animal, as well as allowing adventures like ours to be undertaken safely. We are supporting Mountain Rescue so that they may continue to do their incredible life-saving work.

All donations are appreciated and what we raise will be split evenly between Phyllis Tuckwell and Mountain Rescue once we have completed the challenge.

Thank you in advance for your support,
