Tommy Gittens has worked for Western Inspection, a division of the Mistras, in Calgary, Alberta for 41 years. Tommy started in 1978 and has been the life of the office since. Tommy was consistently the ring leader in elaborate practical jokes that would have everyone in the office laughing. Sometimes it would take months to figure out how Tommy did it, but everyone would know he was involved. Tommy has been the benchmark for consistency over the last 41 years, shooting hundreds of thousands of welds. Early in his career Tommy was also a professional bull rider so he would come to work with wounds from the weekend, but he wouldn’t miss a shift despite having a cast or crutches at times.
Tommy was diagnosed with a untreatable brain infection in September and is currently staying in Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks, Alberta. Tommy has a wife, Brenda, two children, Curtis and Justin, and three grandchildren. We would like to show our appreciation for Tommy and make sure that Tommy and his family are supported in this time of need. All funds raised will go to Tommy’s family to help with any costs they may have to make sure Tommy and they are comfortable over the next few months.
