Tommy Herrick and the Herrick Family

Just before midnight on Tuesday evening, September 27, Tommy Herrick was severely injured in a motorcycle accident on his way home. While his helmet saved his life, he is currently on a ventilator with many unknowns. At this point, we know that Tommy made it through surgery to stop the bleeding from his abdomen and ruptured spleen. He had an open fracture on his right leg that resulted in a broken tibia and fibula. He has a fractured pelvis and many broken ribs. As of right now, there are a few more questions than answers. The extent of the neurological impact or potential of paralysis is unknown at this time. A CT scan this morning showed a brain bleed that has worsened.

If you are blessed enough to know a member of the Herrick family, your life has been forever blessed. They've worked countless hours with the Braswell High School Football Booster Club and were instrumental in the growth of that program. They worked tirelessly on Spirit Wear for two years and spent many long hours working concessions. Bryan spent countless hours cooking burgers and hotdogs for the players at practices and even on Saturdays. They volunteered their time and helped the football program well after their own boys were no longer playing. They are members of Rock Creek Church. They are an amazing support system for friends and strangers alike. They are so very present. They are the family that shows up. Every. Single. Time.

Now is our chance to show up for them. Tommy is at the very beginning of a very long road. Bryan and Vicki will be by his side nonstop as doctors work around the clock to assess the situation to see what recovery will look like. We all know the world of insurance and that it will never come close to covering the expenses associated with a trauma of this magnitude. While we can't change the current circumstances, we can work to help lighten the load, if even just a little.
