100 Ultra In Loving Memory of Tomos Michael Arundell

Hello!

My name is Lee and on 27th July 2024 I completed the Beacons Way 100. This totalled 108 miles, 23,000 ft elevation and took 31 hours 47 minutes. The run was to raise funds in loving memory of my son, Tomos Michael Arundell, who was sadly born sleeping on 2nd October 2023. My wife and I were excited to find out the gender of our baby, but were tragically told they were unable to find a heartbeat and was admitted to hospital at 20 weeks.

Making our way to the hospital knowing that my wife would be giving birth to our baby, but we would not be bringing him home, was the hardest journey we have ever been on.

As you can imagine, it was easy to forget particular everyday items, such as toiletries. For us it with simple things like toothpaste, shower gel and deodorant. It was honestly such a relief to see a male and female toiletry bag there supplied by The Mitchell Foundation. This meant that I did not have to leave the room and was there for the birth of our beautiful little Tomos.

On that basis, all the funds raised will be donated to The Mitchell Foundation who supplies toiletry bags to parents that are admitted to hospital unexpectedly due to premature labor which will lead to unfortunately the loss of their baby.

The Mitchell Foundation was founded in July 2023, Jade and Michael were expecting a perfect little boy in December 2023. Unfortunately due to pregnancy complications, at 21 weeks pregnant they sadly gave birth to their gorgeous son Mitchell Michael Harries on the 28th July 2023 who only survived 3 hours.

The race was a massive challenge as it's twice as far as I've ever run before. However, having the memory of Tomos and support from everyone is what got me to the finish line.
