Tom's chemo treatments

Donation protected
After six months of misdiagnosis from different doctors in the area Tom was diagnosed with throat and neck cancer on January 1, 2017.  He was in the hospital for twenty days during which time he underwent surgery to have a trachestomy and a feeding tube inserted. The oncologist informed us that his cancer is stage 2 or 3.  They can't be sure until Tom has a PET scan which they have not been able to do yet because it requires him to lay flat on his back which is somthing he can't do without choking.  But the doctors do know that he will need to undergo six weeks of chemotherapy and seven weeks of radiation.  Although he has insurance the full cost of the chemo is not covered because we haven't met his out of pocket maximum. The total out of pocket expense for the chemo is $6000. He is scheduled to have his first round of chemo on Feb. 16.  We have to pay up front for the chemo and we don't have that kind of money.  The funds raised would be used for the chemotherapy. The cost of the chemotherapy will be divided into a co-pay prior to each visit with the first treatment costing $948.  We can't continue to postpone treatment, every day counts.
