At the beginning of November, our family was diagnosed with Covid-19.  This, unfortunately, took the life of our dear pap Thomas Donahue.

On November 3rd he was rushed to Jefferson Hospital due to low oxygen levels and was then admitted. While being at the hospital he said he felt fine. We called him multiple times a day exchanging our love and support. We even watched a Steeler game over the phone together just so we felt together. Within a week his oxygen levels would plummet if he tried to eat without his mask, causing him to be put on a BiPAP (stronger oxygen mask). The BiPAP caused us to sacrifice communication because it was too hard for him to speak with it. The nurses supplied him with a tablet so we could see him over a video call. The tablet helped him to see and hear us, his eyes would light up and give us a thumbs up no matter how he felt.  He was then transferred to the ICU due to his declining health.  We were still able to video chat with him, but he was too weak to speak back, constantly giving a thumbs up. Unexpectedly our family received a call that his health declined again, but this time much more drastically. He needed to be intubated due to his oxygen levels being dangerously low. We luckily were able to video call him one last time to give him our love, rooting for him as much as we can.  During intubation, his body started to deteriorate. Shortly after, his kidneys started to fail along with his blood pressure becoming extremely low. The doctors called explaining why they didn't believe he would survive much longer. On November 26th, Thanksgiving morning, we received a call that he was going to pass away within the day. His daughter, Julianne Donahue, arrived at the hospital and was permitted to stand behind glass to be with him one last time. Shortly after at 8:30 that morning he passed away.

Thomas Donahue helped raise 3 grandsons and 1 grandaughter their whole lives. He supplied a roof for his daughter's family in struggling times in need. He wasn't just a grandfather to his grandchildren but a role model by showing them why family comes before anything. He was the most selfless person we ever met, never asking for things in return. We are tremendously grateful for having such a  thoughtful, loving, and caring person in our lives.

This GoFundMe is for his funeral and medical bills. Please consider helping through this difficult time as we navigate through this unexpected loss of our loved pap.

Grandchildren of Thomas Donahue will be in charge of Tom's Funeral & Family Fund.
