Tap Dancing for United Way
Tax deductible
On April 15th, 2016 I will be competing in the 10th annual "Dancing for our Heroes" competition. The program will take place during the evening at the Anderson Civic Center. My professional dance partner, Amy Coleman from Steppin' Out Dance Studio, and I will be performing a tap dance that is sure to impress the judges, but more importantly we are performing to support a charitable cause that makes a huge impact in Anderson County.
I am dancing for the United Way of Anderson County, which provides many services for our community, including the BackPack SnackPack program which impacts hundreds of students in Anderson School District Five. Each Friday during the school year, United Way volunteers and staff members deliver backpacks full of food to some of our most needy students; many which otherwise would not receive another meal until they return to school on Monday morning. This program, along with many others, help ensure some of our most vulnerable citizens get the help they need from our community.
While it is my goal to bring home the 1st place trophy after my tap dance routine, I would be much more excited about winning the "People's Choice" award which goes to the dancer who raises the most money for their charity. The United Way of Anderson County is a community focused organization, and all donations made during this campaign will go towards initiatives that directly impact the lives of our fellow Andersonians.
