Greetings,
My name is George Passante and I am the older brother of Anthony Passante. On August 15, 2020, Anthony showed signs of confusion and disorientation as he was unable to remember his daughter’s name in addition to showing other concerning signs. Anthony was brought to the emergency room where scans found a golf ball sized tumor on his temporal lobe. He was quickly transferred to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia where on Wednesday, August 19th they removed the tumor. Doctors said the surgery went well and he would be able to begin radiation treatment in 4 weeks depending on pathology results. On August 31st, pathology results determined that Anthony’s tumor was a Grade 4, Glioblastoma. This diagnosis brought not only devastation, but fear to our family. Anthony and his family decided to get a second opinion at The University of Pennsylvania Hospital. At Penn, on September 16th, Anthony underwent additional scans that determined the tumor was already growing back at a significant rate. Doctors told Anthony he would need another surgery on September 23rd to remove what they could of the tumor. Because Anthony did so well with surgery and recovery, doctors decided to operate again and remove even more of the tumor. September 28th marked Anthony’s 3rd brain surgery in less than 5 weeks. Anthony will begin radiation and chemotherapy on October 19th.
Anthony is married to his wife Dawn and has 3 Daughters, Rose 13, Grace 12 and Maggie 11. He has been a member of the Washington Township Community his whole life. Anthony has coached softball and basketball for the Washington Township Parks and Recreation Program for 7 years. He has been a teacher with the Gloucester County Special Services School District for 17 years and most recently has worked with the 18 to 21 Special Needs population in the school to career program. Anthony has also entertained 1,000’s of people as a mobile DJ for the last 25 years.
I am raising money for my brother and his family as he battles Grade 4 Glioblastoma. If you would like to assist with their financial burden, any donation would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to medical and travel costs as Anthony’s treatments are 5 days a week in Philadelphia. Anthony will be depending on some trial treatments which may or may not be covered by insurance. Funds raised will also be used to help with family needs as Anthony will not be able to return to work, drastically reducing his income and ability to provide for his family.
Anthony, no matter how old we get, is and will forever be, my little brother. I would do anything for Anthony and his family. I can’t cure Anthony or relieve him of his diagnosis. However, with this fundraiser, we can help Anthony focus on himself, fight this terrible disease and spend quality time with his family. I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I am grateful for anything you can do to help. Please share this GoFundMe with anyone you think would be able to help.
