Tonics Support Families in West Philly!
Tax deductible
The Promise Neighborhood program seeks to improve education, health, and economic successes for children, their families, and communities. These efforts support residents in the West Philly Promise Zone, a federally-designated 2 square mile region spanning the neighborhoods of Powelton Village and Mantua that persistently faces over 50 percent poverty. The unemployment rate is more than double Philadelphia's and 20 percent of adults in the Promise Zone are without a high school diploma. Less than 40 percent of households have broadband internet access at home, impacting a resident’s ability to apply for employment, gain access to services, and for children to continue their education.
The West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood is a collaboration of organizations and entities, including the Philadelphia School District, the Mayor's Office, LISC Philadelphia, People's Emergency Center, Mantua Civic Association, Mount Vernon Manor, and Wordsworth Academy. The program is managed by Drexel University.
The Tonics are an eclectic men's a cappella ensemble from the Delaware Valley, providing entertainment for private parties, restaurants, music venues, sporting events, and business events. In the 30 years of their existence, they have produced 4 CDs.
