Tony Alati - Taken Too Soon

The Austin office of Terracon Consultants, Inc. has lost a highly valued coworker and friend, and the world lost a great guy. Tony Alati passed away on November 19th after a 2-year battle with colon cancer. Tony was an essential part of our region’s Geotechnical Group, working primarily in the field directly with our Clients, Subcontractors, and other real estate reps. From his background doing Environmental, Geotechnical & Water Well Drilling in Michigan, Louisiana (after Hurricane Katrina), and Texas, he brought knowledge and experience to our Team that we did not have before his arrival.

Our Austin Geotechnical Group revered Tony for his calm/measured/thoughtful demeanor, even in the toughest of situations. He was kind and funny, and caring. Plus, he was a hell of a fighter in his battle against colon cancer, surpassing the doctor’s original prognoses and toughing it out through many trials and ordeals that most of us could not handle. He was a great role model for all in many aspects of life.

Tony’s two beloved dogs will be cared for by his parents, Bill, at their home in Michigan. His parents were in Austin at a moment’s notice (numerous times) to help him through his battle. They now have the monumental task of making final arrangements for their only son and dealing with his home in Austin and everything in it. We have created a Go Fund Me to ease the financial burden that this chapter in their life has put on them.

Tony was only 48 years old and had no symptoms before going to the doctor for some gut issues that turned out to be Stage 4 Colon Cancer. So please, folks, don’t put off that initial colonoscopy; get it done as soon as possible!

We were proud to have Tony representing Terracon, and he will be sorely missed every day as a coworker and a friend.
