Tony Cuti & family

They say when it rains, it pours.

As most of you are aware, Tony Cuti suffered a heart attack while at home on Friday, July 7th, 2023. By the grace of God, Erin was home and went into life saving mode— she called 911 and had to perform CPR until the paramedics arrived. Tony was then taken away on a ventilator, with family not knowing if he would ever return.

Upon arrival at Trinity Hospital, Tony underwent a multitude of tests and it was decided exploratory heart surgery was necessary. He ended up needing 2 heart stents, a balloon in another artery, and it was determined he needed to go through a body cooling process to help his brain heal from the lack of oxygen. This was extremely terrifying as his body was fighting the cold temperatures and he had to be temporarily paralyzed. Although fearful, Erin, the kids & the rest of the family remained extremely hopeful, relying heavily on the word of prayer.

After 24 long hours, the doctors and nurses started to bring Tony’s body back to normal temperature, with the expectation he would start to wake in 12-16-24 hours, if his brain function would allow. In typical Tony fashion, he woke up in approx 7 hours! This brought a huge sense of relief to all, but his short term memory was lacking; however, there were MANY classic Tony jokes to enjoy!
“Tequila Tony”, which is how he felt, sounded & acted, lasted for about 2 1/2 days, but because his memory showed signs of improvement, he was discharged to go home on Tuesday. What a miracle!!

Now that Tony is home he is settling into a new routine of taking his medication, resting as much as possible, eating healthier, all while the family tries to figure out how to navigate their new “normal.”

Now we insert the “icing on the cake” scenario. On top of the unexplainable mental & physical rollercoaster the family has been though, Tony found out on Friday that he was laid off from his job he’s worked at over the last 10 years. The Cuti family is now left with one income and a multitude of bills to pay. If Tony’s health wasn’t a challenge at present time he would seek new employment, but considering the circumstances over the last week that is not possible. This GoFundMe page was started to help relieve short term financial burdens to The Cuti family while they work to get back on their feet again. Please do not feel obligated as the support they have is endless, but if you have anything to spare it would be greatly appreciated— no matter the amount. If you are unable to help with a financial donation, The Cuti family will take all the prayers you have to offer.

We also want to thank those that have already lended a hand— in prayer, messages, meals, flowers, gift cards, groceries, etc. Your generosity has meant the world to them.

“And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
