In Memory of Tony Mason

The irrepressible, Beardy Badger of Joy: my father Tony Mason, died on November 24th, following a battle with the unbelievably cruel disease that is dementia.

Watching powerless as his outgoing energy, wit, knowledge, and gleeful playfulness was sapped away was agonising, but the support from many initiatives, including the two local Cumbrian groups below, was invaluable and made a huge difference to Tony's wellbeing (and, indeed, the family's.) so we would love to be able to offer them both a donation to show appreciation and allow them to continue their work with other families.

The first is With Singing In Mind https://www.withsinginginmind.co.uk/, an initiative in Kendal working with people who have developed a neurological condition such as Motor Neurone disease, dementia, brain injury, Parkinson's, and stroke, working through singing and group work to empower, uplift and enrich both carers and clients.

The second is Dignity In Dementia

https://dignityindementia.org/ , who work with families, health and social care staff and community groups in Cumbria and Lancashire to educate and inspire, so that they are able to respond confidently and positively to people with dementia in a way that maintains and enhances their dignity. They also hold dementia-embracing community activities such as a Woodland Wellness Group, and Dementia Friendly Walking Groups.

Any donations made in memory of Tony will be split between the two organisations by Tony's daughter Alexa (as GFM can't divide donations on the platform)
