Support the Tony McGuirk Cup – Honoring an Unsung Hero of Irish Football
On May 10th, the football world will come together at the Carlisle Grounds, Bray, for a truly special event—the Tony McGuirk Cup. This match, featuring a Borough legends team taking on the Leeds United Legends, is more than just a game. It’s a celebration of a man who has given so much to football, his friends, and his family.
Tony McGuirk is an unsung hero, a man who has quietly shaped Irish football through his passion, dedication, and selflessness. He has managed Bray Wanderers, coached Ireland’s U17s,U19s and 21s alongside Sean McCaffrey, and led clubs like Ballybrack FC, TEK United, St Joseph’s FC, Glenmore Dundrum and more recently Cabinteely FC inspiring countless players along the way.
As a player, Tony graced the League of Ireland, representing Dalkey United, Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers, and Drogheda United. His love for the game and his commitment to the football community have been unwavering.
Last April, Tony suffered a stroke, but his spirit remains unbreakable. Now, it’s time for us to give back—to show him just how much he means to us all. His family, friends, and football family want him to know that his contributions have never gone unnoticed and that he is deeply loved and appreciated.
- This fundraiser will help make the Tony McGuirk Cup a fitting tribute, covering:
✅ Event Costs – ensuring an unforgettable day at the Carlisle Grounds
✅ Medical & Rehabilitation Support – aiding Tony on his road to recovery
✅ Community Engagement – bringing together those whose lives he has touched
Tony has spent his life giving to others—now it’s our turn to give back to him.
Every donation, big or small, will help make this event a success and ensure that Tony feels the love and admiration he so richly deserves.
