Tony Salopek 's Fight Against GBS
Donation protected
On July 20, 2022, Tony Salopek began to experience symptoms associated with Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). By July 22, he was completely paralyzed; he was then intubated and admitted to the ICU. Over the last 7 weeks, his condition has slowly improved but he is still largely paralyzed. While we hope he will make a full recovery, we anticipate this to be a long, difficult and stressful process. While in the hospital, Tony has seen Kelsey start her academic and athletic career at Kent State, Tony III head back to UPJ to continue his father's wrestling legacy and Kylie begin her sophomore year of high school while recovering from MCL surgery. While in the hospital, Tony has been steadfastly cared for by his wife Jill and his parents, Barb and Tony.
Anyone who knows Sal knows he will fight through this with all he has. Over his teaching and coaching career, Sal has impacted the lives of students, athletes and their families. If you can help Tony and his family during this difficult time, your support is greatly appreciated.
And I promise, when he's fully recovered, we'll post video of him doing the worm.....
