Tonya's heart

On November 21st my mama, Tonya Fisher, called me at work and said her chest felt heavy like something was sitting on her. I told her she needed to go to the ER right away. She was at work and hoped it would pass, but after a short while, it worsened and she went to the local emergency room. Upon checking in, she was told it was “likely indigestion,” but they quickly discovered - she was having a heart attack. They admitted her and got her to the cath lab where they discovered she had what they refer to as a “widow maker” blockage in her main artery and several other blockages as well.

She subsequently underwent a quadruple bypass surgery the following morning to repair the damage. Her surgeon told us it was a miracle she made it in for treatment. The day she was in surgery was probably the longest day any of us have ever experienced, and waiting for her to wake up and come off the ventilator was even worse! We are extremely grateful today that our mama is home after a 10-day hospital stay. She will require a minimum of 8 weeks and possibly up to 6 months of recovery time before she can return to work.

One thing I’ve always said about my mama is that she’s a hard worker! Being out of work will be hard for her, to say the least. Growing up, I remember her always doing everything she could to raise her 4 daughters and give us everything we needed. She would never ask for it herself, but we are starting this fundraiser for her to help with medical and living expenses during her recovery! Any donations are greatly appreciated!

We also ask you all continue to lift her in prayer, as she’s been through so much and still has a long way to go! Her father died from a heart attack at 45, and our mama is 48 - but she made it!!!
