I have been given permission to start a fund for Tony's medical expenses and to help Kristie get through the next few months. We promised Tony that we would take care of her, and this is where we're starting.
Theirs was a 30 year love affair that could have sustained another 30 years, and suddenly she is without a partner, a husband, a best friend. Before this happened, Kristie was on a wait list for hip surgery but had to postpone it due to Tony’s sudden illness and is currently unable to work. Kristie put everything aside to make sure Tony's final wishes were met and his final days were filled with friends and family, in the privacy of their home.
Tony was diagnosed with cancer in March. He was supposed to do a 6-month round of chemo, but almost immediately became too weak and too sick to continue treatment. Tony made the decision to come home with hospice care and be surrounded by family and friends, which gave him and us the opportunity to talk, touch, be together and say goodbye.
One of the last things Tony said to Chip was, "if anyone asks you, 'what song would Tony like to be remembered by,' tell them Way to Go." So pull up Cowboy Nation, give it a listen, and remember sweet Tony. And if you're moved to help fulfill his last wishes, help us take care of his beloved wife, Kristie.
Thanks in advance.
