Tony’s Burrito Fire Incident Employee Relief Fund

This fund is solely to assist family members and employees who worked at Tony’s Burrito House at the time of the fire incident. We are fundraising $10,000, 2 months worth their earnings, since unemployment benefits do not suffice with keeping afloat during these times.

Many of you, your parents, and grandparents might be familiar with Tony’s history, and the value it has to our family. It began with my grandfather, Antonio Argueta, going around Cd Juarez carrying a basket selling his homemade burritos. He then continued in a bicycle, and later a food truck. His first restaurant opened at Parque Borunda in Juarez. After his passing, my grandmother, Beatriz Argueta, and my uncles, Miguel and Ricardo, collaborated in opening a restaurant in El Paso to serve the community.

Almost 40 years later this week, the restaurant burned down, leaving the family tradition in El Paso with it. It has been extremely difficult for our family since we wanted to keep my grandfather’s legacy going. Moreover, for our family members and employees, this was their only source of income and they need help to survive for two months since unemployment benefits do not cover their expenses. Therefore, we would very humbly like to ask for your help with anything to reach our goal of $10,000.

From the bottom of our heart, thank you for always being part of us since the beginning, for becoming family, for making Tony’s possible to exist. Now, during these times of despair, we are truly grateful for your support.

Este fondo es únicamente para ayudar a los familiares y empleados que trabajaron en Tony’s Burrito House en el momento del incendio. Estamos recaudando $10,000 dólares, dos meses de sus ingresos, ya que las prestaciones de desempleo no bastan para mantenerse a flote en estos tiempos.

Es posible que muchos de ustedes, sus padres y abuelos conozcan la historia de Tony y el valor que tiene para nuestra familia.

Comenzó con mi abuelo, Antonio Argueta, recorriendo Ciudad Juárez con una cesta vendiendo sus burritos caseros.

Luego continuó en una bicicleta, y más tarde en un camión de comida. Su primer restaurante se abrió en el Parque Borunda en Juárez.

Tras su fallecimiento, mi abuela, Beatriz Argueta, y mis tíos, Miguel y Ricardo, colaboraron en la apertura de un restaurante en El Paso para servir a la comunidad.

Esta semana, casi 40 años después, el restaurante se quemó, dejando atrás la tradición familiar en El Paso. Ha sido difícil para nuestra familia, ya que queríamos mantener el legado de mi abuelo.

Además, para nuestros familiares y empleados, ésta era su única fuente de ingresos y necesitan ayuda para sobrevivir durante dos meses, ya que las prestaciones de desempleo no cubren sus gastos.

Por lo tanto, nos gustaría pedir muy humildemente su ayuda con cualquier cosa para alcanzar nuestro objetivo de $10,000 dólares.

Desde el fondo de nuestro corazón, gracias por formar parte de nosotros desde el principio, por convertirse en familia, por hacer posible que Tony's existiera.  Ahora, en estos momentos de desesperación, estamos realmente agradecidos por su apoyo.
