Tornado collapses barn- Help the Marlett Family

On July 28, 2022 an F2 tornado touched down on Sam and John Marlett's farm on Chaffee Road just south of North Java. Sam and John had come into ownership of this farm just over a year ago- and an event of this magnitude is sporadic in our region of the country. As the news reported it, there was one missing person- this was Sam, as she was checking on the cows- everyone is now accounted for.

This tornado caused the barn to be completely lifted off its original foundation and moved the barn 20-30 feet from where it stood. There were still animals in the barn when this occurred, but they were able to get the animals out; however, they have not been evaluated by a veterinarian yet.

The hay for the year was housed in the barn's upper level, and it is undetermined whether or how much hay they will be able to salvage from it to get them through the winter.
