Tornado Victim, Carl Jennings

My name is Kelly and I am fundraising to help a friend, Carl, that recently became a victim of a tornado. Carl is a retired marine, single father of 2, that is always willing to help the next person. If you know Carl, I know you have a story of how he has positively contributed to your life.

On Monday, March 1st, Carl was home cooking in his kitchen when he heard a loud vacuum sound and glanced out his kitchen window to see a tornado coming straight for him. He immediately ran for his basement, and some of the aftermath is pictured in the video. What’s not pictured is what the tornado sucked up with it: the entire roof of his home, most of the top floor of his home, his kid’s belongings (including clothes), etc. I’m sure his belongings went along with it too, but humbly, he only talked about his kids being left without, and how grateful he is that no one was hurt. It will be at least 6 months before he can return home, still in the dark about what insurance may cover and when those funds will be dispersed. On top of the shock and the fear that was just experienced, the damage, the longevity of the impact of the aftermath, the getting shuffled around to a hotel and then hopefully an apartment, having to furnish a place to live while waiting to return home, make life as normal as possible for his kids, etc. there is more. Carl is a trainer. He had turned his basement into a training facility (one of the pictures in the video) where he trained and mentored many of his clients. Not having the ability to access his basement for at least 6 months means Carl is losing income that insurance will not compensate.
