Update 2/2/2024
Mom was taken back to the hospital on 1/31/23 for a slow internal bleed that they are trying to locate. She’s in good spirits, but with a total of 18 broken and/or fractured bones, it’s still difficult! Thank you for the continued support!
Update 1/26/24
Mom finally got to visit the Orthopedic Wed and everything went great! Bones are healing and she is able to start trying to stand and move more! Yesterday was her 75th birthday and we were so happy to celebrate her and my dad both being here with us still! Dad was able to find a replacement vehicle yesterday, and it was possible because of all of you! A continued thank you for making this awful process that much easier!
Update 1/23/24
Mom is doing well and trying to sit up more and in a wheelchair to get use to being up. Still some ups and downs, but we are getting there! Thank you for all of the donations, they will absolutely be using them for medical expenses, getting a vehicle, and moving. You all have been amazing! Mom’s birthday is Thur the 25th, so happy she is still here to celebrate it!
Update 1/20/24
Have spent the past couple of days helping Mom get away from medications that make her sleepy, and today she was awake more and looked like she felt 100% better! Therapy is going well, she is working hard to get on her feet, literally. Lots of pain and anxiety when standing because of the pelvic fractures, bruising, fractured ribs, collar bone, broken/reconstructed arm from her elbow to her shoulder, and her new bionic hip she had replaced, but she is working hard to get back to feeling like herself. Mom and Dad wanted to make sure and thank everyone for the unbelievable generosity, thoughts, prayers and moral support through this entire disaster. It means more to both of them, as well as to Sam and I, that everyone has helped and been there in every way that matters. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Update 1/17/24
Mom was transferred by ambulance from the hospital to a rehab center today for physical therapy. She’s anxious to start walking and getting up, especially on her own. The funding will be going towards my parents finding a place to live and a vehicle to drive since they lost both. We actually lost all vehicles that they had and my husband and I had. Thank you for the continued support, we are getting there, but still have a long way to go! We love you all!
Update 1/13/24
Mom is recovery from both surgeries very well so far! Finally got her up once today, which made her day, but was extremely painful as well! But it’s progress, so she is happy! She’s an amazingly strong woman and has continued to impress her doctors and everyone so far! Thank you will never feel like a strong enough word, but we appreciate all of the calls, texts, thoughts, prayers, and sharing of the fund! My parents are starting to feel the hope and possibilities of starting over with all of it because of all of you!
Update 1/11/24
Mom’s first arm surgery was delayed today due to several things needing to be better regarding numbers. Surgery is now planned for Friday morning! Please keep those prayers going, they are working! I can’t tell any of you how much we all appreciate the outpouring of thoughts, prayers and donations, they mean the world to us all!
Update: My mom had her first surgery this morning, it was successful and she is resting and in good spirits. She has her next surgery for her shattered arm tomorrow, and it will be the first a several to fix her arm. Thank you doesn’t feel like big enough words to show our appreciation to everyone who has donated! Just wanted to let everyone know it means the world to all of us!
Today was a day that I never thought would happen! At 5:50am we took a direct hit from a tornado at our home in Bay County, FL and my parents were in our RV outback of our house. There was no time for them to get inside and the tornado flipped the RV with my parents inside it. They were both taken to the ER and my father was released with lots of bumps and cuts! My mother needs prayers, as she sustained multiple broken bones and bruising and cuts, and is in ICU. We have accounted for all of our animals except for my parents one cat, Rosie. Our neighborhood is devastated, just as bad, if not worse than it was 5 years ago during Hurricane Michael. Please say a prayer for my parents, this is extremely difficult and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone! The RV flipped twice and crushed their only personal vehicle ( 2004 Ford Explorer) and all of their belongings. If anyone would like to help my parents with costs, please donate, they are semi-retired and limited income as they both work part-time at 74 and 75 years old, plus my mother has a VERY long road ahead of her to even walk. Yes, we have insurance on out RV, but that is only going to help so much in the distant future to pay off the RV when the insurance pays out for little money for their older Explorer and we now have to move them in with us and help them basically start over. Here are a few pictures from our property. I would like to help them find a vehicle and get them back on their feet! Thank you for anything and everything anyone can donate for them!
