Toronto Back-To-School Supplies for Low-Income Families

Hey everyone! I'm Sarah, a single mom living on Ontario Disability in Toronto, who received support during one of my lowest times and felt a need to pay it forward. As a single parent, I personally know how much of a struggle it can be to get your child new school supplies every September. I also know how important it is for our children's mental health to feel like they fit in with their peers by having those items, instead of being left out due to lack of funds. This is why one of our biggest initiatives is supplying low-income students with everything they need to start the school year right.

Now four years later we're a registered charity looking to give back to those in the greatest need. We support low-income families across Toronto, focusing on those with disabilities, mental health challenges, seniors and the unhoused.

Last year we distributed 650 backpacks to low-income families, even delivering to the families with disabilities. This year we would like to hit 1,000 backpacks full of school supplies distributed across the city, but we need your help in order to reach our goal of $15,000. Just $15-20 can provide a student with all they need for the school year!

At Toronto Cares Initiative, we feel that having the necessary tools to get an education, is a right, not a privilege. Do you agree? Help us, help students today!
