Toronto Electronic Music Producers

Toronto Electronic Music Producers is a meetup group that held its first meetup on January 10 2015. In total, T.E.M.P. has held 74 in person meetups, 9 live shows and has held 11 online virtual meetups (due to covid lock downdown restrictions). As of Sept 28 2021, the meetup.com group has 1307 members.

 

The meetup is advertised as a group for those passionate about electronic music production to discuss the craft and to share ideas, insights and techniques to help each other grow as artists. The group is open to all electronic music genres.

 

After different iterations over the years, the meetup is structured to give each producer 10 minutes to share their original work. The order by which producers' work is played is chosen randomly using a random name picker. Lately, members can choose to take part in an optional music challenge, put together by a different member each time.

 

Starting in December 2018, a new branch was started called "TEMPR.events" which is dedicated to hosting live performances of electronic music producers in Toronto. The latest venue for this is Bassline Music Bar, where it is scheduled to occur monthly.

 

The virtual meetups continue to draw new members and once the lock down is over, the plan is to move to hybrid meetups, with in person meetups connected online to facilitate remote attendance. 

 

Thus far all meetups and live shows have been 100% free. T.E.M.P. and TEMPR.events have tried to fund itself using merchandise sales, but this effort has failed to cover the bills. Many members have generously shared their time, equipment and expertise. New areas of funding are being researched and pursued.

Yearly meetup.com organizer fee is $200 USD per 12 months and I have personally paid this amount for six years now.

Oct 2023 update we are still going strong.

We had several live events this year at BASSLINE MUSIC BAR in Toronto in August.

We continue to have montly online meetups ... next one is Oct 26 2023
