Torry Berger Medical Fund

Hello! This is Torry's wife Susan... we may have never met some of you but feel we know you a tiny bit from your continued prayers, support and well-wishes for Torry (and me!) in this trying time.

Torry was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, July 23 on Cascade Lakes Highway near Devil's Lake – changing our world in an instant.

His injuries include:

The pelvis injury alone caused a lot of internal damage – rupturing his bladder, perforated the small intestine and colon (resulting in the loss of about 10 inches of colon and appendix) and nerve damage to his right leg and foot. He also lost his gall bladder during one of the surgeries. To date, Torry has undergone 12 major surgeries since the accident to fix internal damages – with more to come in the future.

It's been a scary time for both of us and our future has come to a halt until he recovers. How long will this take? Only Torry, and time, will tell. While we remain optimistic, Torry will require extended care and rehabilitation to heal his broken body.

Many suggested I start a GoFundMe to financially assist with whatever Torry needs that is not covered by our insurance. It will help cover lost wages when allotted sick/vacation time and Paid Leave Oregon have been exhausted. As of September 22, Torry's sick and vacation time is already gone. We have applied for Paid Leave Oregon but it hasn't kicked in yet but covers 60% of wages only.

We have never been one to ask for help... but no one expects this sort of life-altering event.
